Frequently Asked Questions

What are Hilt Airbrush Stencils designed for?

Permanent Tattoos have become extremely popular and mainstream. Not everyone wants the pain or longevity of a real tattoo. That’s where Hilt Airbrush Stencils fill the gap. Our standalone tattoo designs are realistic, and pain free! The stencils work well in simply black, one color, or combinations. They are very versatile for going from cool simple tattoos, to complex, fully artistic tattoos. You can add shading, color, and extra stenciled tattoo textures or elements. Mix, match and embellish – you are only limited by your imagination.

Who are Hilt Airbrush Stencils designed for?

Our stencils are designed specifically for anyone currently offering airbrush tattoos, AND those considering if they should try their hand at airbrushing at their gigs and festivals! If you have been debating whether you should give airbrushing a try, consider this as your sign!

Are Hilt Airbrush Stencils difficult to use?

NO! Our airbrush stencils are designed specifically for easy application. Each design has been field tested in private party and PPF events for ease of use, under-spray avoidance and popularity. The easier the use, the faster you work, and the more money you will make.

What products should I use with my Hilt Airbrush Stencils?

Our stencils work with all airbrush fluids; alcohol or water based. You may also use with makeup and face paint, using a sponge or dabber.

How much should I charge when using Hilt Airbrush Stencils?

Pricing often depends on your area. Some locations are able to charge higher fees. Start with your hourly rate, and work out how long it takes you to create a tattoo – from start to finish. Another consideration based on the product you are using in your airbrush. Is it temporary, or longer lasting? A good rule of thumb is the longer the tattoo will last, the more you could charge. Also, most of our customers typically charge more per hour for airbrush than typical face painting gigs.

How should I store my Hilt Airbrush Stencils?

You want a procedure that is convenient and fast to work with. Some people store their stencils in photo sleeves tucked into a 3-ring binder. Another option is a file box with hanging file folders. You can insert your stencils into photo sleeves, or leave the stencils loose in the hanging folders. It all depends on what works best for you!

What’s the best way to clean Hilt Airbrush Stencils?

Hilt Airbrush stencils are made of flexible Mylar and are solvent proof. We recommend cleaning with 99% alcohol and a silicone basting/pastry brush. Spray the stencil with alcohol and gently swish the brush over the
stencil. You may also use an alcohol soaked towel and carefully wipe the stencil clean. After heavy use, soak the stencil in 99% alcohol for about 15-20 minutes, swish with a pastry brush, then dry the stencil by patting gently with a lint free cloth. Be careful to never pull, or snag any small parts of the stencil. ** Watch a video here **.
